It's certainly up there. This is a good discussion though. The thing about the 993 is that its hard to separate in my mind, its looks from the idea that it was the last air cooled generation. There are lots of things I like about the 993, but from a purely looks perspective I'm not quite sure that it's the best.

I also maybe prefer the slightly less nuts Turbo edition to the GT2, though I can see the argument for "if you're going to do it, go all the way" at the same time.

Other contenders would have to be the 964 Turbo

and the 930 Turbo

Can someone explain to me why a 993 is a 911? And why this 993 GT2 is badged 911 GT? While you're at, I've always wondered why water is wet.

993 is the internal name used by porsche to designate different iterations of the 911.

last of the air-cooled and traditional cockpit layout as well.

964 is very close but the smoother lines of the 993 always win me over.

993 is a generation of the 911, just like the 964 and the 930, they are mainly just numbers used to differentiate generations in stead of saying 1994 911 of 1976 911. Since it is a 911 it is badged as such.

Is water wet or is wetness water?

Boy am I glad Simeone else shares my opinion of the 993 GT2. It is the best looking 911 ever. Smooth lines, giant wing, and those integrated air intakes in said wing! I could stare down those babies all day! Great taste sir.

the answer to anything porsche is '993' or, of course, '42.'

Seconded. You are obviously a refined, intelligent gentleman of impeccable taste! (...and I'm not just saying that because your post agrees with my opinion(s)...)

Seriously though, I'm not 100% sure that I'd say without reservation it's the best looking 911 ever , but that is one damn fine looking automobile and without a doubt one of my top two or three choices of the 911 line.

Besides, that car in red with those wheels, well.... that's just sex. Few cars are able to instill pure, unadulterated *want* within me. That one does.

I want this more than anything, I would gladly live in a box the size of a refrigerator if it meant being able to own one of these GT2's

I'm pretty sure this is a turbo, but I love the picture. Anyway, I absolutely agree. Come "One Car Garage: Porsche" I know exactly what I'm putting down.

Beautiful car, but, and I'm not sure why, I've been loving the original 901 body more and more. I couldn't daily drive one, but as far as a respect for the aesthetics, there's just something about it...
